A Digger/ Construction Party!

Bean is completely Digger mad at the moment, it means that trips to the shops and other adventures take a little longer because we have to stop to look at every bit of construction taking place in the vicinity. I have been known to reverse the car up a street just to catch a glimpse of the big ‘ole hole being dug up by a digger. There is nothing that Fin likes better than some roadworks or a construction site when we’re trying to take a trip somewhere. So, there was no question really that for Bean’s party……it would be a ‘digger one’! For more party ideas – try our Spy Detective party ideas for a secret agent party!

Obviously, I took to my favourite method of research for parties: Pinterest. You can find my Pinterest inspiration for our construction party here.
I started with the cake and have to say that in terms of a cake creation, this was quite an easy one because I could make it and dig it up again! Bean particularly enjoyed smashing the digestives to make the earth!

The best thing for Bean was being about to actually ‘play’ with a cake and not be told off! He spent ages after we’d blown out the candles, digging with his mini diggers in the biscuit dirt!

I bought ‘builder jackets’ similar to those they use on school and nursery trips to identify the children, which were a hit with Pip and Bean! Bean wore his for the next few days and wouldn’t take it off, even for meals.

As he was only turning 3, we mainly had family and a few friends and played some low key games like ‘pin the nail on the toolbox!’ and ‘builder hoopla!’ where the children had to throw the hoops over the traffic cones. Had they been older, I was quite intrigued by the numerous amount of ‘digger’ crafts I found online which I’ll be saving for the future!
Aside of the cake, Bean was perhaps most excited by the use of some of his bigger diggers to serve food in at the party! “It’s a digger but also a bowl!!” It made his day.
Another party done, another happy little man, another year gone- where is the time running off to?
