Firework Washi Tape Craft

We’re still eeking out firework night here! It’s truly our favourite time of year, second to Christmas possibly! After a day of DIY (it’s still neverending but totally getting there, am hoping to share some pics of our renovations soon!) we decided to make some firework crafts and cosied up with some hot chocolate after!

The busy periods begin at this time of year right?

Especially with school  parties, family parties, carol services, school fairs – the next few weeks are going to be full on –  so we had a fun but more chilled out weekend this one just gone, well as much as you possibly can when you have four kids and one who likes to spend his life dangerously climbing the kitchen table! Here is the evidence that he is ALWAYS standing on the table!

So we had some firework inspired crafty time! These firework crafts were totally easy to make and used up some supplies we had knocking about. First, we made mess free firework pictures by popping washi tape and some flourescent duct tape onto black paper. This kept our little ones engrossed for ages, ripping the tape and sticking it down – they loved that their was no need for scissors! And even Archie (aged 16 months) could have a go! The flourescent duct tape was left over from moving house and I colour coded all the boxes (only to have the removal men ignore them all – but still!)

Next, we used some large Polysterene Balls and also covered them with the duct tape (they couldn’t get enough of the stuff – guess what I’m putting in their stockings!!) and then simply poked some of these cocktail party sparkly sticks and there you have it – your very own sparkly firework. This then provoked our crazy lot whizzing and dancing round the house with them and throwing them around – until I was worried someone was going to lose an eye and so I promptly pinned them to the noticeboard! But there was hot chocolate to distract them and it was fun while it lasted! They’d be a fun New Years Craft to make too, so maybe we’ll make them again with New Year’s Wishes poking out – maybe?!

We have a 4th little birthday coming up soon and then it’s into all the Christmas Excitement and farewell to fireworks for another year!
