New rides at Peppa Pig World in Paulton’s Park
Have you been to Peppa Pig World? I must admit, it wasn’t my first choice destination to head to on a cloudy day with a one and four year old – but Orla (my four year old) is a big fan of Peppa Pig and Archie can now actually say ‘Peppa Pig’ as he hands me the remote so I figured they would love it! I wasn’t convinced that a theme park for little children seemed a good idea and so I kept an open mind as we drove down the M3. Orla was so excited on the journey and spent the two hours singing me all the Peppa Pig songs and reciting all the characters names. I do think ‘Peppa Pig’ is one of the more amusing children’s TV shows though – along with ‘Ben and Holly’ I do have a little giggle at it from time to time!
As we arrive and park easily we entered Peppa Pig World and little Orla’s eyes lit up and I could suddenly see the attraction of a special park dedicated to the popular TV show. You cross under the sign of Peppa Pig World and you are instantly transported into the magical and very colourful world of Peppa Pig. Everywhere you look there are Peppa Pig themed houses – even Madame Gazelle’s school, Peppa Pig’s car and dinosaurs everywhere! Orla was soooooo excited by Peppa Pig’s house and spent a long running in and out of it.
New Rides at Peppa Pig World
What’s so unique about Peppa Pig World is that all of the rides are suitable for very young children – Orla was thrilled that she could potentially ride most the rides by herself (although she didn’t actually choose to) but even Archie (aged 22 months) could go on every ride accompanied which was obviously such a thrill for him! Children over 18 months can go on the rides with an adult and most rides have a minimum height to ride of 90cm if they want to go it alone. There are nine rides at Peppa Pig World with two brand new rides which we most excited to try. The two new rides are ‘The Queen’s Flying Coach Ride’ and ‘Grampy Rabbit’s Sailing Club’, the latter is a water based ride which takes children on a lovely gentle boat ride around the park surrounding you with references to Peppa Pig shows, Orla particularly loved that she could identify the episodes (perhaps she’s watched a little too much Peppa Pig) ‘that’s the one where Daddy Pig falls asleep on the boat’ she chorused!
Next, we opted for ‘The Queen’s Flying Coach Ride’ which was our favourite. It takes you around the park like a monorail so you can see the whole of the park – it would be a great ride to go on first because you could check out the queue sizes! From this ride, Orla chose all the rides she wanted to go on and then bossed us around the park from then on! Orla and Archie particularly loved the Peppa Pig voices you hear inside the carriage – “it’s like having Daddy Pig next to you!”
Other new parts to the park include a brand new ‘Queen’s Kitchen’ which sells yummy sandwiches (although I thought all the food at Peppa Pig World’ was reasonably priced for a theme park) and a Baby Area which I was very impressed with – dedicated baby changing spaces, baby feeding area complete with a microwave to warm up bottles and food and kid’s toilets too. This area made a great difference as I was travelling solo with 2 little ones. It’s a fab place to take a picnic though with lots of picnic tables dotted around the park.
After we had checked out the new rides, we continued around the park – for those roller-coaster thrill seekers, the rides are going to be a disappointment but for families, they’re perfect. They’re all beautifully designed with bright pops of colour and are all different – trains, boats, fairground style, and even a dinosaur ride adventure course! They are close together too which saves little legs. We went on a school day but the queues were surprisingly short! Archie loves anything with wheels, so his favourite rides were the ones that allowed him to ‘drive’: Trekking Tractors, Grandpa Pig’s Little Train, Daddy Pig’s Car Ride and Grandpa Pig’s Boat Trip too! He totally loved being in charge of the wheel!
There is such a lot to do here, such a variety – a Mr Potato’s playground, a splash park (bring your cozzies on a hot day as little kids will love this) and a very impressive soft play area (a God-send for a rainy day). Orla and Archie spent ages in here – sucking up ball pond balls with a sucking-hoover-like machine which then rained down on them once full – delightful! Mr Potato’s playground was a big hit with Archie who went up and down the mini hills for ages and it was lovely for him to be in a park where everything was safe for him to go on and his ‘perfect size’.
We didn’t even venture to the main Paulton’s Park apart from a quick go on a carousel on the way out – there was no time – we had too much fun at Peppa Pig World! That said, checking out some of the rides in the main park – I know my older two would love to come back!
