Best Parks for Kids in Barcelona
You’re spoilt for choice with the choice of playgrounds in Barcelona if you’re taking a Barcelona holiday with kids. At almost every street corner in Barcelona there’s small children’s playgrounds with some play equipment which is great if you’re visiting Barcelona with toddlers. Whilst most of these smaller playgrounds are for toddlers and kids under 5, there are plenty of larger children’s playgrounds throughout all of Barcelona. Most of them are free and provide a few hours or an afternoon of entertainment for kids in Barcelona. Parque de la Estacio del Norte is a nice green space with interesting art sculptures, a children’s playground and an outdoor theatre. It’s a small park but it has some nice shady areas, a small cafe and the play area has some swings and a slides – good for kids under 8. But the art sculptures blend nicely with the grass which makes it a nice walk and a good spot for an ice cream! The park doesn’t have toilets, nearest toilets are at the station.

Parque de la Pergosa has a good sized toddler playground and playground for kids under 6 as well as a zip wire for older kids. There’s also a large space-like octopus with loads of slides for kids aged 5+. It’s set in a nice area with a lake and trees with benches in the shade.
There are no cafes or toilets at the park but there are plenty of shops and a few bakeries nearby.

Parc de La Ciutadella has it all! A brilliant fountain, play areas, sandpit, boating lake. It’s a large park with lot of space for everyone to sit, or to walk your dog, or play sports. It’s. great space for a picnic or an ice cream. You can rent a boat to go out on the lake for $6 Euros. Also on the grounds of the Parc de la Cuitadella is the Zoo of Barcelona so you can combine the two together for a great day out for the kids in Barcelona! The playground is best for kids under 7 and it has sand and water so perfect for a hot day! It has a tropical feel to the park with plenty of palm trees around! This is a great park for an evening picnic as it’s a goo location to explore Barcelona at night.

Parc de Montjuic

Parc de Montjuic is a great way to spend an afternoon. There are beautiful views from the top and giant slides that will entertain younger and older kids too. You can take the funicular Telereferic (cable car) or make the difficult climb up to the top! At the top you can visit the castle or there is also a small coffee shop. There is a panoramic view of the Mediterranean sea and the city of Barcelona from the castle is eye catching – particularly at sunset. You can also visit the fort and the Olympic sports arena from Parc de Montjuic. In some evenings they hold a special colourful fountain display set to music which is worth seeing for kids. Aside of the very high slides there is a small playground with play equipment for kids and lots of gardens to run around and explore!

Parc Guell is a must-see sight in Barcelona. It’s not really a kids playground but kids will have lots of fun there! It’s a magical park designed by Gaudi with fascinating architecture and some amazing views over the whole of Barcelona. At the centre of the park is a small playground with some shady areas to sit down to keep cool. Highlights of a Parc Guell visit for families is the monumental area, Greek theatre and the colourful tiled lizard! It can get very busy at Parc Guell so aim to go in the morning, it takes about 2-3 hours to visit and walk around Parc Guell.
Barcelona is a great place for a family holiday with lots of things to do, places to visit and fun things for kids to see. It’s a perfect mix between a beach break and city break – Barcelona has something for all ages.
