Painted Pasta Mosaic

A painted pasta mosaic may seem an odd thing to make but it was the Easter holidays when we had one of those dreary days, you know – one of those days where the great outdoor plans remain in your head and you realise, after three epic rainstorms that you won’t be venturing outside today! So a crafty day it was to be. Once we’d exhausted the usual drawing and traditional painting options, we decided to try something different and paint pasta lasagne sheets! Painting pasta is a cheap and easy kid’s craft that you probably have in the cupboard so it’s often something easy that you can do instantly.

You may never look at lasagne the same way again after trying this! If you’d like to try making a ‘Painted Pasta Mosaic’ you’ll need:

Turns out this was one of those magical activities that everyone loved, from the nine year old to the one year old! Firstly you need to paint the pasta, it may curl up a little but then spread it out and leave it to dry over night. Try to paint the pasta sheets in a variety of colours.

Now for the fun bit! Pop your dried painted lasagne sheets into the sandwich bags and seal well. Take a spoon and bash the lasagne sheets until they’ve smashed into little bits. Try not to make the bits too tiny or they’ll be hard to stick. Next, take your small pasta bits and use them to make a Painted pasta mosaic by glueing then down in a pattern on a piece of paper.
