All things lovely and Autumnal

Autumn Walk in the woods

I’m sure I’ve mentioned it before but I am totally smitten with Autumn. Over the last couple of weeks it seems like our summer has decided to call it quits and trade places with Autumn.  Overnight, Autumn extended her crunchy golden leaves towards us and our walk to school became full of reds and oranges. The weather has shifted and today there was so much rain it made me want to reach for the soup pot, the woolly socks and to hibernate.

Last weekend – the weather was totally different – sunshiney and warm. It was my birthday and we headed out to a woods we hadn’t explored before to have a nosey and get some proper fresh air. We found a little spot to let Archie roam free and ended up staying put in the woods for a couple of hours. It was lovely to see Archie exploring and scurrying around in the bushes – he’s at his happiest in his wellies, wandering around with a stick in hand! I did have to rescue him from a few tight spots where he’d decided to climb head-first into bushes – he’s such an adventurer!

The elder three built dens and shelters and picked leaves for food. Oh – and they did spend a large amount of time arguing about who had the biggest stick but that aside, they played for ages establishing their own separate dens and pretended going to each other’s houses for tea.

When it was time to leave we had a battle separating them from their sticks but they did get the trade off of a whole pocket full of conkers that I keep finding all over the house!

Who knows what the weather will do this week but for now I’m going to enjoy the Autumnal chill and I’m off to curl up under duvets and quilts and be glad of them!
