Nature Inspired Christmas Tree Decorations

November 23, 2017

Ok, ok – I know I’m mentioning Christmas in November! I do know that’s way too early! Gearing up for Christmas here, doesn’t really begin until after my daughter’s birthday in December. But I do confess that I haven’t done any Christmas Shopping and I definitely have no intention of decorating the house any time soon but I did want to make some ‘Nature Inspired Christmas Decorations’ take a quick wander with my two youngest today and we collected the usual mound of pine cones and acorns and anything else my three year old thinks we ought to bring back home! I drew the line at several large sticks she has her eye on!

Once we were home and had popped little Archie in bed for a nap – Orla and I made a really quick and easy naptime craft. We made some ‘Nature Inspired Christmas Decorations’ to hang up on our advent tree which will be making an appearance at some point next weekend!

We spray painted the pinecones and acorns with white and silver spray paint and then also spray painted some nuts I had – I think the nuts look the best all silvery and shiny! We used the silver and white Pinty Plus spray paint. Next, Orla dipped the pine cones and nuts in glitter glue and then added even more glitter for the double sparkle factor! Warning: we still have a kitchen floor covered in glitter so it’s best to cover the floor a little more carefully than we did!

Lastly, when they were dry, I used a glue gun to glue this Christmassy red and white thread onto them so we’ll be able to hang them from our Advent tree. I think the cute acorns looked particuarly effective! If you haven’t collected any, you can buy them here.

What Christmassy things are you up to already?!

(Although…. I DO NOT want to hear from anyone who has brought all their Christmas shopping and wrapped it already!) That is just too much!

You just have to have sparkly decorations at Christmas and yours look great! The red and white thread gives them a lovely finish too. I was doing plenty of Christmas crafting in November as well, it’s a nice and relaxing way to get into the Christmas mood before all the chaos begins! #Christmaslittlemakes

Oh, these are so cute! And easy (if a little messy?!) too. Might do these next year when I’ve remembered to collect some cones, acorns etc. #bloggerpinparty

These are lovely pieces. I can’t think of any where near us that bares pine cones or acorns sadly. #littlemakes

Once there was a girl who loved notebooks and making lists. But the notebooks overflowed and couldn't quite capture all the lovely memories. And so.....this blog was born, a place for this, that and the other.
