Indestructible School Shoes! Back to School with Treads
It’s Back to school time already? How did that happen? The one thing that excites my kids about ‘going back to school’ is shopping for new school shoes, unfortunately school shoe shopping is not always pleasurable for us parents – there’s the stress of finding the right size, in comfortable fit, in a style the kids like AND one that won’t fall apart in the first few days! Particularly in this current climate – it is safer to shop for school shoes online and many shoe shops are overbooked with appointments. Our nine year old gets through shoes a lot quicker than the girls – mainly due to the constant football playing and so this year, we were on the lookout for strong indestructible school shoes that won’t fall apart! Treads came to the rescue and offered us a girls and boys pair of shoes to review and test if they really are (as they claim) indestructible school shoes!
Indestructible School Shoes! Treads Shoe Review
Treads offer both boys and girls shoes and they also have a touch fastening system to help children who have not quite mastered laces yet, like my daughter. We went for the London Model which is a Touch Fasten School Shoe which is designed and built for active boys. Treads is an online shoe shop – it was quite a relief to realise I wouldn’t have to do the stressful school shopping trip! To find out what size to order, you have two methods. You can order a fitting gauge to measure at home or use their printable paper fitting guide. We used the paper fitting guide and the shoes fitted a treat! A real plus of the shoes is that Treads come with a dual fitting system, which means they come with a removable inner sole. The Dual Fit Technology allows extra room if needed within the shoes. Underneath the shock absorbing removable insole is a removable footbed. The Footbed can be taken out to allow for a wider foot or to give an extra half size if needed. Simply by removing the base under sock layer, you change the shoe from a standard to a wide fitting, which I think is rather clever. Finlay really liked all of the Treads shoe designs – you can’t fault the choice – there are loads of different styles so there will be something for everyone, both boys and girls. The shoes arrived quickly and are no more expensive than the shoes we’ve bought from Clarks or Marks and Spencers.
Orla loves her shoes too – the padding round the back of the heel and the velcro strap make the shoe really comfortable and easy to wear. Orla’s shoes are Alberta Mary Jane style but Treads have a wide range of designs including brogue and lace ups as well as T bar style.

We can already testify on the flexibility – Finlay finds the shoes really comfortable and also he loves the designs. They’re smart enough for any school policy but kids also love them. Finlay had a certain swag to his step when he them on and they certainly look strong – fingers crossed they’ll stand the test of time! They’re so excited to be going back to school after so long out that it’s important that they’ll be comfortable and ready for whatever school has in store for them!
