20 Autumn Leaf Activities for Kids
Autumn leaves are the best thing to craft with – they are cheap and easy and fun! I love the season of Autumn. Summer really went so quickly, I still have so many Summer adventures that I have not yet written up! The big two went back to school this week – leaving the little two at home but not for long…… Orla will join her brother and sister at school in a week or so…… more on that soon. I’ve been trying to make the most of the last few days where we have just have the two littlest at home during the week and so this week we went Autumn leaf collecting to make Autumn Leaf Crafts. We’ve got to make sure we do one Autumn leaf activity a year! A couple of years ago we made these Autumn Leaf People as our Autumn kid’s craft and I’m pleased the kiddos still remember them!
September was a favourite time of year, growing up. I loved the name alone, I was thrilled to go back to school, I suppose it seemed special because of my birthday, but mainly I loved the sights and smells of Autumn. It seemed I could not take it all in, no matter how deeply I breathed or how much I tried to see. As I think I mention every year – Autumn is still my favourite season!
So, after our leaf collecting session on the way back from the school run – we sat down and made lots of hedgehog Autumn crafts. I’ve no idea why everything we made seemed to turn into hedgehogs – I guess they’re appropriate for the season – plus they’re cute!
Toilet Roll Hedgehog
- Paint a toilet roll in brown and then leave it to dry.
- Stick some leaves at the bottom of your picture to make the hedgehog’s bed!
- Draw a hedgehog face shape on a piece of white paper and cut out.
- Stick the face onto the paper and add a pom-pom or paper pink nose.
- Finally, fold toilet roll in half and cut it widthways. Glue these on their sides to make the spikes.
Toilet Roll Leaf Hedgehog
- Paint a toilet roll in brown and then leave it to dry.
- When dry, poke some holes in with the scissors and feed the leaves through to make the spikes.
- Draw the face on or add stickers for the eyes!
Simple Autumn Craft for Preschoolers
Here’s a simple Hedgehog craft for preschoolers.
