Handmade DIY Christmas Baubles

I’ve been excited this year to make handmade Nature Christmas baubles using nature items. Last year, I had a bit of an overhaul on our Christmas decorations and got rid of anything broken or garish! I have only just remembered my overhaul and am a bit worried that when the Christmas Decoration box comes out of the loft, it’s going to have nothing in!! I love anything sparkly or handmade at Christmas and have a friend whose tree I always envy. Every decoration on the tree has been gifted or made or bought in a place that is special to their family. It does mean that it was a minimalistic tree to start with, but every year I visit – it looks more and more gorgeous! As their family has moved around a lot, they have decorations that come from the Ukraine, Turkey, Germany and each one tells a little story.

I’m not going to be able to replicate that this year (given that I haven’t been on the look out for Christmas decorations from places we’ve visited – need to put that on the list to do!) But I thought I’d start by making a few simple nature Christmas baubles to adorn our tree this year. I’ve gone for quite a simple look so that they were easy and quick to make. I can’t wait to get the tree out and see how they look.

I bought the glass baubles from Amazon and then filled with things I already had but just spruced up a little!

I filled one with some pretty white feathers which I sprayed with a shimmer of silver spray paint. I experimented with sprinkling some glitter to some of the feathers when wet. I filled another with mini plastic fir pieces which I sprayed with the chalk paint in white and lastly spray painted some mini pine cones and acorns with the bronze paint and added lots of gold glitter. I also filled one with tiny sea shells as a memory of our trips to Ireland!

I have a few baubles left and I’m not sure what to do with them – I’d love to see how you’ve filled any empty baubles if you’ve handmade any decorations this year?!
