Handmade Peg Doll Angels
Years ago, (I’m not quite sure exactly how long ago) I made a ballerina peg doll craft with my mum. I’m not exactly sure why, I think it might have been for some kind of competition. Anyway, she still sits on my shelf to this day and I think she still has a certain kind of charm although, sadly, I never named her.

Whilst I was pondering on why she doesn’t have a name with Elodie and Orla (“but you really should name all your dollies mummy, otherwise how do you know which one’s which?”) Elodie said she’d liked to make her own peg doll craft and Orla and I were going to make toilet roll angels that day, but swiftly changed them to ‘Peg Doll Angels’!!

I think they’ve turned out beautifully (can you tell which is the original?!) and I am hoping that they’ll keep them on their book shelves until they’re thirty-something too and maybe they’ll make peg dolls with their children when they’re older! Remind you of ‘The Paper Dolls’ anyone?

Oh and in case you were wondering……Orla aptly named her angel Peggy and Elodie left hers un-named too!
If you’d like to make your own Peg Doll craft, you will need……
- Dolly Pegs
- Glue
- Wool
- Bits of lace or scraps of material
- Felt Pens
- White Felt
- Pipe Cleaners
- Glitter Glue

Begin by wrapping some pipe cleaners wrapping some thread round your peg doll and leave two bits sticking out for hands. Next, add some material for a skirt and draw on a face and add wool for hair. You can stick feathers on the bottom to make an angel peg doll and make a small halo with a pipe cleaner! Finlay wanted to make an alien peg doll – washi tape and pipe cleaners for antenna’s perfected his look!!
