Best, hardwearing school uniform for active kids!
It’s nearly that point in the school holidays when you start thinking about getting your kids kitted out for the new year. With 4 very active kids at 3 different schools, I find the school shopping a big chore! I have said more than once this holiday – where on earth did I dump their PE kits on the last day of school? Does this jumper fit you? Whose school shoes are these? In a world where children are constantly on the move, the choice of school uniform can play a pivotal role in fostering your child’s comfort and creativity when they are at school. What do you look for in a school uniform? If you’re anything like us – we’re after comfort and durability.

I might STILL not have a clue where the PE bags are, but I am feeling a little more organised on the school uniform front. This year, I opted to buy the kids school uniform from VERY. I decided that 10 minutes online with the large selection from Very beat traipsing around the shops with the kids! Ordering was really easy, there is plenty of choice for back to school items on the Very website which covered all my kid’s schools needs! Delivery was very quick and the best thing is you can get everything in one place – from school shoes to water bottles and a great selection of school bags! No need to go to lots of different shops – Very has lunch boxes and school PE kits all in one place! You can even buy Clarks school shoes, coats, waterproofs all from Very which made life so much easier for me this summer!

However, I’m also after durability AND comfort along with the ease of ordering. On the first day of school, you want your active kids racing to the playground, not moaning about stiff fabrics or restrictive designs. The right school uniform should enable happy, active kids to express themselves freely and take part in every adventure that awaits them throughout the school day. My son is particularly sensitive to ‘itchy fabrics’ and ‘labels’ so I was delighted to see that Very’s uniform recognises the link between comfort and performance. Gone are the days when style overshadowed practicality; today’s uniforms can be as dynamic as our kid’s playground games and very comfortable too!

When it comes to outfitting active kids, the conventional school uniform can often fall short against the rugged demands of playtime and sport. I’m sure I’m not alone in having kids coming out of school with ruined uniform after a fun day! However, Very is now bridging that gap with hardwearing materials designed to withstand the day’s challenges. Their school uniforms are made from breathable fabrics that resist stains while providing flexibility and comfort during a game of tag or a lively class discussion! The quality feels tough whilst also being comfortable – I’m hopeful for a year where my son ‘s trousers don’t get holes in the knees from endless football games! Very has also integrated features typically found in sportswear into everyday school attire. Think moisture-wicking technology and stretchable seams built seamlessly into skirts, blazers, and trousers. This combination ensures kids are always prepared for spontaneous playground adventures (which is a regular for my kids) without compromising on style or durability. Plus, the uniforms come with reinforced stitching in high-friction areas which means they can endure playground games whilst still looking neat by the end of the day—this is fashion meets functionality at its finest!
Another big win for me was the cost and the pack sizes. Four kids uniforms can certainly stack up the costs – and you always need more than one of most things. Especially the shirts. I don’t think my eight year old has EVER managed to make a shirt last more than one day, he’s forever coming home with half his school lunch down his shirt and white board pen marks all over it! The shirts, trousers and skirts come in packs of 3 or 4.

Very’s school uniforms are designed with durability in mind, allowing young explorers to climb trees (very good news for our two youngest!), jump into puddles, and play tag without worrying about wear and tear. Innovations in fabric technology mean these outfits can withstand the rigours of daily playground escapades while still looking smart. Imagine uniforms that not only resist stains but also allow kids to run and play – they sound like dream uniforms to me and they certainly feel great quality. Our kids, like most do after school clubs before we collect them after work. They are typically Outdoors Clubs and Forest school – which can take a toll on uniforms. The trousers we bought from the Very school uniform range have everything I look for in a pair of school trousers – an adjustable waist – easy for little ones to pull up and down and reinforced knees – vital for those knee-skidding football saves!

For kids who thrive in the great outdoors, I’m hoping for school uniforms that don’t have to be a barrier to our kids adventurous spirits; instead, they can be the perfect foundation for a day full of fun. We’re giving Very a try for the first time this year and will let you know how we get on!
