It’s been quite a lazy weekend for us here. In fact, we’ve had a few lazy weekend recently after the initial rush of Christmas. We took a break from the decorating (which has been our every weekend for the last year!) and pottered around and enjoyed our Christmas toys. I think it’s been exactly what we all needed – we were able to spend lots of time together, with no school run, no time limits, all the time in the world to play with their toys without being rushed out the door, interact with one another and create some wonderful games. We even played family hide and seek! It was bitterly chilly but we popped out on a scooter ride so the kiddos could enjoy the new scooters they got for Christmas – they are loving them!
At aged 9, 6, 4 and 17 months – its totally true that the little things are often the biggest and the smallest pleasures are usually the most fun. I love seeing even a simple walk through kid’s eyes – everything is an adventure, anything can be climbed, everything takes an age to get to and the world is full of endless possibilities! Simple joys are really what it’s all about.
They scooted round and round whilst Archie had a sleep all wrapped in blankets and despite the cold – they took off their coats (against advice I might add!) and scooted some more. They even made time for a quick game of ‘pooh sticks’ and invented a rather scary game where they scooted down a bridge with their eyes closed! I know that’s scootering isn’t a real word but it’s our word, and endearing it is too. A lovely, relaxing weekend was had by all. I hope you did too x
Not to wish life away but only another six weeks until the next half term!
