It’s been simply ages since I wrote a ‘Life Lately Post’ but as its nearly time for back to school and all that that brings- schedules, routine and pick ups and drop offs, I thought now was the perfect time to reflect on our summer.
Summer was obviously all about our little 4th bundle of squidgeyness arriving and learning how to survive as a family of 6. But we did manage to have a few family adventures like our trip to Igtham Mote here, paddling in Beddington Park and visiting Joss Bay Beach and forgetting to take any photos!
We visited Swanley Park with my fab friend, Fran but left without any photos due to having to leave abruptly as Finlay broke his wrist! Two years ago, his big sister broke her wrist on the first day of the holidays and here was Finlay breaking his close to the end of the holiday! He’s coping so well with it, it hasn’t slowed him down at all! We also had some visits from lovely old family friends, how’s this for a brood?! We could not get them to smile all at once!
The kids also had some fab days out with their grandparents which were perfect for a breather for me!
Summer is usually the time I use to catch up with the kiddies, being a teacher and all which means that summer is quality time with them but this September, it feels weird that I am not returning to work. Once we’ve got into our groove, I’m determined to make the most of my last ever maternity leave and try not to worry about having a tidy house
and spend more time with the children doing plenty of making and baking and hoarding lots of fun memories!
So, in the spirit of a fresh start and a new term, I had a blog freshen up! Do you like it? Many thanks to the lovely Dinosaur Stew (is that not the best name?) for all their help. And, we are, of course, operating a new domain name too. Years ago, I had a ‘making blog’ and ‘list of lovely things’ which was a blog about our family. I’ve decided to combine them as the name ‘Thimble and Twig’ is infinitely more interesting! There’s not really a story behind the name, I just liked it and it does sum up the crafting and woodland adventures that me and my family often find themselves on!
So, this September…….
E is enjoying being back at ballet, her birthday presents (obviously) writing notes to her brother and playing ‘going on a holiday’ with her brother and sister.
F is loving making dens with cardboard boxes, the fact that we have lots of Daddy-long-legs in our house and turning the garden hose on all the time!
O is enjoying writing in her pink fluffy notebook, pretending to talk on the phone, wearing sunglasses and saying a high pitched OK? after everything.
Archie is simply enjoying milk.
Mr M is loving that Tottenham have won a few games
Happy September everyone!
