I suppose it’s inevitable that if you have more than one child, the younger is always going to be in a race to catch up with the older ones! This is most certainly true of our Orla, she is having a lovely time being 4 but she is desperate to go to school like her older brother and sister and start ballet and more recently, she has been really wanting to go in a car seat ‘she could do up all by herself!’ This comment (which she utters on a daily basis) has made me laugh because it took me right back to the days when she was a teeny tiny tot and she used to say ‘I do it. All by mine’s self’ whenever we tried to help her do something! It was about time that she moved up to the next car seat stage, so when I was asked to review the Joie Trillo Group Two/Three Car Seat from Kiddies Kingdom, I thought it was the perfect time to help her feel ‘all grown up’.
We have two other Group Two/ Three car seats but they are nowhere near as comfortable as the Joie Trillo. It’s got lovely padding all around the car seat and a nice big headrest but it still fits easily in the back of our car where there are three car seats in a row. There are guard surround safety features which provide side impact protection and as it fits through Isofix – it genuinely feels like a super safe car seat. I’m also very happy that I can take the car seat covers off and pop them through the washing machine! Oh the things that make us happy once we become parents!
Look at Orla, all happy and snug in her new car seat! She loves that she can do it up all by herself and that she has a ‘proper’ seatbelt around her. The day it arrived, it was tipping it down with rain and we didn’t have plans to go anywhere so we didn’t need to put the car seat in right away. Orla was so disappointed that she moped around the house until Mr M was so fed up of the moping that he put the car seat up in the lounge and she played ‘going on holiday’ with Archie, taking turns to sit in the new car seat! It means a lot to us that she’s happy and snug in her car seat, it’s my biggest fear that we’d have an accident with the kids in the car with us. Choosing the right car seat for is one of the most important purchases you can buy for your children but it’s so overwhelming isn’t it?! It’s an awful statistic but unfortunately, every year thousands of people are killed, or injured by cars. In fact, preventable death and injuries on the road are the number one killer of children in the UK. But as the Joie car seat has padded sidebars and an isofix base, I feel like it will keep our kids safe. See here if you’re worried about car safety or a car accident.
Here’s to many more car trips and adventures, particularly when it gets a little warmer!
