A Third Birthday Party!

Christmas can’t really get started around here until our little Orla has her birthday. She is now three! THREE? Time got sucked into a vortex somehow! This was the first year that Orla really understood about her birthday and she seemed stunned and surprised to have a special day all to herself! She wondered around all morning saying ‘Happy Birthday Orla’ to herself! The morning seemed to pass really slowly as we were getting the food ready and putting up balloons and banners, Orla kept pestering me to get her ready in her ‘pretty girl party dress’ – she was so excited to start her party.

We have a large family who are so lovely and turn out for (all of our) children’s birthdays! Orla had been trying to count all her relatives that were coming but she can only count up to 16 and we were just a tad over that. Particularly special was that Nanny Dot came, Orla had asked that morning if Nanny Dot could come and I had just said ‘I don’t think so, not this time’ (Nanny Dot is my Nanny so Orla’s great Nanny) because I wasn’t sure she could make it so it was a special moment when she arrived!

We all had a great time, Orla had so many lovely presents and the house was full of pink (just how Orla likes it) including a yummy pink butterfly birthday cake (made by my mum). Sausage rolls and cocktail sausages were a given (Orla loves these)and the children did a treasure hunt around the house, they had to find unicorns to exchange for sweets and scented pens!

Orla chose Peppa Pig tablewear and party bags from Party Bags and Supplies as she is a big Peppa Pig fan. However, she drew the line at a Peppa Pig cake (strange for a girl who loves sausages!) I’ve never bought pre-made party bags before but we had such a busy week in the lead up to Orla’s birthday that it was a real lifesaver timewise, to know this element of the party was all taken care of. The party bags had a lovely selection of things in such as marshmallows, a rather noisy Kazoo, stickers, balloons and toys.

When everyone had left and gone home, I was just putting a tired, sleepy girl to bed when she turned to me and said “Now I go to bed and in the morning, when it’s my next birthday, I can see everyone again!” Errrmmm…….. I didn’t have the heart to break it to her that we only have birthdays once a year!

We were sent the party bags and table wear to review from Party Bags and Supplies but all thoughts and opinions are my own.

Once there was a girl who loved notebooks and making lists. But the notebooks overflowed and couldn't quite capture all the lovely memories. And so.....this blog was born, a place for this, that and the other.
