I’ve been feeling lucky today. Spent the weekend with my lovely friend who lives just around the corner in a great little nursery-come-coffee-shop-come-crafting-store that is also just around the corner. It’s a real hidden gem, why oh why have we not known about this before?
I normally see my lovely friend that I used to work with at least once a half term (typical teachers – we only operate in half terms) but since our new job plans, I’m pleased to say we’ve seen a lot more of each other. She’s the Godmother to my son and truly easy and delightful to be around. I love that she just drops in and slots in with the family and we can just chat, chat, chat and excite each other with future leaving teaching plans. She puts up with eating dinner with the littlies and takes part in the crazy bedtime routine.
This weekend, we had a couple of hours killing time between yet another party for Pip (how does a five year old have such a lively social life?!) and so headed to a little coffee shop we had heard some mumblings about.
It was lovely! Full of vintage chintz (some for sale)
Pretty nooks and crannies……..
The cakes were scrummy! I had a beetroot and poppy seed cake (I’ve already pintrested the recipe…..watch this space.)
Bean enjoyed the cake and plethora of picture books – all from local artists. There was one particularly odd book from a local artist called ‘Brenda ‘s Bottom and her birds’. It’s a slightly eccentric book about an ever growing bottom and the London icons attracted to it! We didn’t know quite what to make of it but loving that it’s local! Check it out here…
We’ve since discovered that cream teas, BBQs and home brewed ale are all Alexandra Nurseries! We may be spending a fair bit of time there this Summer!
