The dust has settled/cleared (not quite sure what the right term is here- still feels like there is dust everywhere!) on our latest house project – our kitchen renovation, just as a new project begins – Project Bathrooms – yay! I am so excited to be finally tearing out our yellow bathrooms, more on this later!
However, I wanted to do a little make to pop up in our newly decorated space (photos of this coming soon!) and so…….. the crochet hoop art was born. I am such a big fan of mustard yelllow though I must confess though, I did NOT make the crochet mandala. I would love to be able to knit or crochet but cannot do either to save my life! However, I can tie a good ribbon or two and so settled for buying my crochet mandala here.
I had such a stash of ribbons to use up so this is my (slightly late) Craft Busting Stash Challenge for September, see below for the other amazing ideas for our Craft Challenge Crafters.
If you’d like to make your own DIY Crochet Hoop Wall Art, you will need…….
- A wooden embroidery hoop, you can paint this or leave it bare.
- A crochet Mandala, the same size as your wooden hoop (or if you’re super clever, you can sew one)
- Some embroidery thread
- Some scraps of ribbon, different lengths is fine.
Firstly, use your embroidery thread to tie the mandala to the wooden embroidery hoop. Stretch it taut across. You may want to be brave and cut some of the threads in the crochet to tie it to your hoop (be careful not to unravel it), or use a similar thread colour to your mandala and wrap it around the wooden hoop.
Glue down and snip off the thread edges so they can’t be seen and tie some ribbon or lace scraps to the bottom edge of your hoop – and you’re done! The quickest nap time craft ever!
I am so in love with all things crochet at the moment! I’d love to see your crochet inspired makes if you have any?!
Please check out the rest of the Craft Challenge Participants and see what they made this month!
