Mr M and I are fast approaching our 10th wedding anniversary! How did that happen?! In some ways so much has happened (we are 4 babies and 3 houses down!) that it seems an age away since we first got married but in other ways- it’s flown by so scarily fast and our wedding day seems like yesterday!
Having 4 children means it’s harder and harder to get out as just the two of us. It’s not the babysitting thing really, we are lucky enough to both have wonderful parents who help us out a lot with childcare and are more than happy to babysit of an evening. It’s more the issue of us finding an evening when we’re both free without kids after school club paraphernalia and then if an evening does become available, it’s struggling to find the energy to go out and not collapse in front of the TV!
So, when All Bar One in Leicester Square contacted us and we realised that we hadn’t been out since Archie was born (4 months ago), we jumped at the chance of a night out and decided to find an evening where I could meet Mr M in town after work. Well, that was the original plan………. but due to various station closures and cancelled trains, I found myself sitting in All Bar One all by myself for an hour!!! Luckily the staff were super nice and brought out lots of delicious wine for me to try and also the venue is sooooo beautiful that I had lots of things to snap on my camera and so I kept myself busy by posting to Instagram! I was just really disappointed that I forgot my big camera and so these are all iPhone pics. The venue had a real film/ Hollywood kind of feel and I could not stop snapping!
If, like me and Mr M, you don’t get out much and don’t spend that much time in Swanky Bars, you may have to forget everything you ever ‘thought’ about All Bar One. The Leicester Square flagship branch has just relaunched and its a real show stopper of a restaurant. It will leave you with tons of decor inspiring ideas as it’s full to the brim of beautiful lighting and copper pipes and industrial living chic. It’s no longer just a bar you pop to for after work drinks (although you can do that too!) It’s a cocktails with the girls and a dinner date kind of place now too.
Anyway, when Mr M finally did arrive and I had forgiven him (helped by the wine my kind waiter kept pouring) we were famished! I had originally planned to have the Miso Rice Bowl and be nice and healthy but with my long wait- I could have eaten my own arm and so I opted for Halloumi and Chorizo skewers and a Pulled Pork Burger. Mr M tucked into calamari and a Monteray Burger. It was completely yummy, I can honestly say we enjoyed every bite. There’s a fab selection on the menu, Its varied with a mix of Asian, Mediterranean, Mexican and American foods that all sounded delicious. We were more than full but our waiter persuaded us to try dessert. Had I not been totally stuffed, I would have opted for the Churros as they looked amazing on the table next to me but I just had a little try of the Salted Caramel Chocolate Torte with hazelnut ice cream – if you like chocolate, you just have to try this dessert. It is honestly the chocolatiest thing I have ever tasted! Mr M tried the Sicilian Lemon Cheesecake for something a little more refreshing. (He was trying to pretend he didn’t want anything chocolatey but I know he did really!)
We had a lovely time and I thoroughly recommend popping into All Bar One Leicester Square if you’re ever in the vicinity. It’s in an ultra convenient setting for us and it was just a hop skip and a jump back to Charing Cross to take us home! We’re considering taking the children there next week to see how they cope with little ones!
Safe to say, Mr M and I look good for another 10 years after All Bar One saved the day with a great night out, I’d forgotten about my long, lonesme wait by the end of the evening!
Many thanks to All Bar One for inviting us to review but all words and thoughts are my own.
