Wanted to link up with ‘Space for the Butterflies’ ‘What we’re reading’ this week because my little ones have some real favourite bedtime readings at the moment.
A real hit in our household at the moment is Ella Burfoot’s ‘Betty and the Yeti’.It’s such a lovely little book and we’ve read it almost every night at Bean’s request! It’s a story about friendship, being friends with those who look a little different from us (in the shape of a yeti!) It’s all about looking beyond the exterior of the yeti to find his warm heart inside. It carries a really positive message of the importance of friendship. It’s a winter wonderland story and even the glittery cover makes me long for snow to frolick in! I love the cute font and the images are stylish but appeal to little eyes also. I love Burfoot’s illustration style, she uses a lot of black and counterbalances it with striking colours. The little people have cute rounded faces and Bean is particularly taken with the yeti character, he’s curious about the Yeti’s clothes and is not convinced he can see where he is going in them! A snuggly bedtime read with a rhyming-read aloud style!
